For the employer

The Tier5Intern programme is open to employers who meet the following conditions:

You either:

  1. Hold a current A rated Tier 2 sponsor licence, or
  2. Satisfy the Scheme's rules governing employer credentials. Applications made under this heading will require the employer to provide details of:
    • Your primary business
    • Latest audited accounts
    • PAYE number or Accounts Office Reference Number
    • Employers liability insurance

Please note:

  • Employers wishing to engage an intern in work connected with hospitality or the care sector will be required to hold a current A rated Tier 2 sponsor licence
  • This scheme is not open to employers whose work is in the agriculture sector.

The cost of making an application is £750. Successful applications will result in a Certificate of Sponsorship being issued to the intern you nominate on condition that:

  1. The role is supernumerary, supervised and has a job specification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or above
  2. That the role carries remuneration equivalent to or in excess of NMW
  3. You commit to:
    • Report the arrival of the intern within 24 hours
    • Care for the intern and to repatriating the intern before visa expiration
    • Report immediately any changes in the working conditions of the intern and/or any concerns as to your and/or the intern's ability to continue to comply with the rules of the scheme
    • Be audited by the Scheme’s administrators at any time and to provide specified documents

We will endeavour to process applications within ten (10) working days. The Scheme’s administrators reserve the right to accept or deny applications and no refunds will be made in respect of failed applications.
